Over a million farming households in Asia and Africa have adopted innovative practices that change the management of plants, soil, water and nutrients in irrigated rice production, which supplies most of the world's rice. Known as the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), this agroecological approach enables farmers to increase yields while using less seed, water, fertilizer and often less labor. This has the potential to increase food security, raise incomes, conserve water, and buffer crops against adverse effects of climate change on a very large scale.
Please join Oxfam America, Africare and WWF to hear farmers and development experts discuss how many more could benefit from methods such as SRI.
This event is open to the public
